Jill Shipstad's programs are known to capture the unique
qualities of each individual ice skater. Her unique creativity, rich
dance background, years as a prominent ice show star and her
experience working with world class competitors make Jill Shipstad
eminently qualified for her role as a top choreographer in the realm
of ice skating.
Jill knows what it takes to reach an audience, even when the
audience are the judges!
Individual Programs
Jill works with each skater on focus, emotional expression,
improvisation, and stage presence.
"Each skater, no matter what age or
level, needs a program with a certain kind of spark that illuminates
the uniqueness of that person. My goal is to find that spark and to
put together a top quality program".
Show Skating and Ice Productions
Jill began to choreograph professionally with Disney
on Ice in 1980, and still enjoys working with the Disney principals
and understudies.
She can help you prepare a professional program for your
skating performance, or to prepare your audition tape.
"I learned a great deal working with the
Disney ice show." Jill has said. "Ice skating shows in general
provide a thorough education in choreography. The nature of various
production numbers, stars, and acts require that the choreographer
delve deeply into specific
styles of movement."
Jill choreographs group numbers for Synchro
teams as well as show production numbers.
Music Editing
The search for originality no matter what type of
music, be it ballet, jazz-oriented or ethnic music is
all-important to Jill.
She researches and cuts the appropriate music so you can perform
your best.
Jill also understands how music will sound best in the unique
skating rink environment, and can enhance your own previously cut music for
the challenge of rink sound systems.
Workshops
Jill offers workshops which can be hosted and
sponsored by any individual, group or figure skating club and covers
appropriate topics for skaters and coaches. She has often
presented seminars and workshops for PSA and other organizations.A variety of topics are covered dependant on the
group, goals, ages, etc.
